Dr. Bhim Lal Gautam, an esteemed educator and researcher at Tribhuvan University’s Central Department of Linguistics since 2000, has dedicated over two decades to exploring linguistics in Nepal. Holding a PhD in Linguistics, he specializes in language contact, ideology, translingualism, politics, change, documentation, policy, and planning.

With extensive teaching experience and supervision of MPhil and PhD scholars, Dr. Gautam has led research projects on language politics and shift across Nepalese communities, conducting fieldwork in various districts. He is an active member and leader in linguistic associations, contributing beyond academia through volunteer work.

His publications include books like “Language Contact in Nepal: A Study on Language Use and Attitude” and “Kumal-Nepali-English Dictionary,” along with articles in prestigious journals. Dr. Gautam’s commitment to preserving Nepal’s linguistic diversity is evident in his scholarly work. Additionally, he will serve as a table lead for the Polyglots team at WordCamp Nepal 2024, showcasing his dedication to both academic pursuits and community engagement.
