The WordCamp Nepal 2025 team is excited to announce the Call for Wapuu Designs! We’re inviting creative minds to design a unique Wapuu that embodies the rich Nepali culture and the spirit of WordPress.

What is Wapuu?

Wapuu is the beloved unofficial mascot of WordPress, first conceptualized during the WordCamp Tokyo 2009 after-party and brought to life by Kaneuchi Kazuko. Since then, Wapuu has been adapted by WordPress communities worldwide, often reflecting local cultures.

What We’re Looking For:

This year, Kathmandu is the proud host city for WordCamp Nepal, so we want a Wapuu that reflects the essence of Kathmandu—be it its iconic temples, bustling streets, festivals, or rich cultural heritage.

• Cultural Representation: A Wapuu design that reflects Nepal’s unique heritage—think of elements like the Himalayas, traditional festivals, iconic landmarks, or local attire.
• Community Spirit: Designs should capture the inclusivity, diversity, and collaborative nature of the WordPress community.

Submission Guidelines:

• Eligibility: Open to everyone; you can submit as an individual or a team. Multiple entries are welcome.
• Originality: Designs must be original and adhere to copyright laws. Plagiarized or non-compliant submissions will be disqualified.
• Format: Submit your design in vector format (.svg) or high-resolution PNG.
• Base Design: Use the original Wapuu file as a base for your design. You can download it from the official Wapuu repository.
• Guidelines: Ensure your design follows the Wapuu guidelines.

Important Dates:

• Submission Deadline: 28th February, 2025
• Winner Announcement: First Week of March 2025

• Recognition in the WordCamp Nepal 2025 Wapuu announcement post.

How to Submit:

1. Create your Wapuu design using the base file.
2. Upload your design to Google Drive, GitHub, or Figma.
3. Share the URL with us through the submission form.
