Ujwal Thapa Scholarship: Honoring a Visionary and Community Contributor

WordCamp Nepal 2025 is introducing the Ujwal Thapa Scholarship to honor the late Ujwal Thapa and his invaluable contributions to the WordPress community in Nepal. Ujwal, along with Chandra Maharzan and Sakin Shrestha, co-founded WordPress Nepal, a group that has grown to over 11000 members, shaping Nepal’s WordPress ecosystem.

Even though he’s no longer here, his influence is still felt. By continuing his work, we keep his memory alive. His dedication and commitment helped this community grow, and we are grateful for his contributions to the WordPress Nepal Community.

To honor his memory, we are offering three full scholarships for WordCamp Nepal 2025. These scholarships will cover the two-day event ticket, making it easier for those who want to attend but face financial challenges.

Scholarship Benefits

The Ujwal Thapa Memorial Scholarship covers:

• Full event ticket for WordCamp Nepal 2025, providing access to all sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities.
• Scholars from outside Kathmandu valley will receive return bus fares along with accommodation for 3 nights and 4 days at a standard hotel and a free ticket.
• The final decision will be made by the WordCamp Nepal 2025 team.

This initiative aims to make WordCamp Nepal accessible to a diverse group of participants, fostering knowledge-sharing and skill development in the WordPress community.

Application Process and Selection Criteria

A total of 3 scholarships are available, and interested applicants must submit their applications by 28th February, 2025 (midnight, Nepal Time). The selection process prioritizes individuals who:

• Demonstrate a strong interest in WordPress and its community
• Requires financial assistance to attend.
• Applicants must be from rural areas of Nepal.
