What Is Contributor Day?
Contributor Day is a dedicated part of WordCamp where participants work in organized teams to contribute directly to WordPress. These contributions support the software, documentation, training resources, translations, and tools used by millions of websites worldwide.
No prior contribution experience is required. Team leads and mentors guide contributors throughout the day.

- Beginners and first-time contributors

Willingness to learn and collaborate is the only requirement.
Contribution Teams You Can Join
At WordCamp Nepal 2026, contributors can participate in the following teams:
- Basic WordPress Training: Improves beginner-focused learning materials that explain WordPress basics such as dashboards, pages, posts, and site management.
- Core: Contributes directly to WordPress core through testing, bug reporting, patch reviews, and development discussions.
- Education: Improves lesson plans, workshops, and educational content published on Learn.WordPress.org.
- Full Site Editing (FSE) Training: Focuses on training resources related to block themes, templates, site editing, and Full Site Editing workflows.
- Patterns: Creates, reviews, and improves block patterns for the WordPress Pattern Directory.
- Photo: Contributes real photographs to the WordPress Photo Directory following official quality and guidelines (all official guidelines are here). We encourage contributors to bring their own camera or high-resolution smartphone to capture original photos throughout the event.
- Plugin Development: Works on plugin development, testing, documentation, and best practices aligned with WordPress standards.
- Polyglots: Translates WordPress core, themes, plugins, and documentation into different languages.
- Theme Development: Builds and improves WordPress themes with emphasis on block themes, accessibility, and coding standards.
- Theme Review: Reviews submitted themes for the WordPress Theme Directory to ensure quality, security, and guideline compliance.
- WP-CLI: Contributes to WP-CLI by improving commands, documentation, testing, and developer tooling.
How to Prepare for Contributor Day
Preparing in advance helps you participate effectively and make meaningful contributions.
Create a WordPress.org Account
All WordPress contributions are tracked through a WordPress.org profile.
- Register at: https://login.wordpress.org/register
- Choose a professional username (this will be publicly visible).
- Verify your email address and complete activation.
- Log in at least once before the event to confirm access.
Your WordPress.org account records your contributions and displays contributor badges.
Bring Your Laptop (and Charger)
Contributor Day is hands-on.
Minimum requirements:
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
- Stable internet access
- Ability to log in to WordPress.org
Optional (team-dependent):
- Code editor (VS Code or similar)
- Git and a GitHub account
- Local WordPress setup
Advanced tools are not mandatory. Mentors will guide browser-based workflows if needed.
No Advanced Skills Required
Contributor Day is beginner-friendly.
- You are not expected to know WordPress internals.
- Tasks are available for all experience levels.
- Team leads will explain:

- How contributions are made
- Which tasks are suitable for beginners
Asking questions is encouraged.
